Stated Meeting

1861 Civil War Lodge of Research

July 16, 2011

The Stated Meeting of 1861 Civil War Lodge of Research was held at Ed Worsham Lodge No.505 in Brownsville, TN, on July 16th, 2011.

Three members and four visitors were present.  The event was warmly received by members of Worsham Lodge.

Due to the illness of the proposed speaker, Worshipful Master H.T. Ray presented a talk stressing the point that anyone looking at history should attempt to view events as they would have appeared to those present at that time.  He illustrated his premise by citing several newspaper articles that were printed at the beginning of the War Between the States.  A lively discussion followed the very fine presentation.

The Stated Meeting was opened with the following Officers in their Stations and Places:

Worshipful Master                 H.T Ray

Secretary-Treasurer             Larry Price

Junior Warden                      Garry Lee Wackerhagen (moved to Senior Warden for this meeting)

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

The Treasurer’s report was read and accepted.

The major point of discussion was the method of publishing the Lodge's archives for the Years 2010 and 2011.  It was moved and seconded that the primary method would use "combs" to bind a printed output.  The measure passed.  It was also assumed that an electronic version of the printed material would be available.

The next meeting will be at Temple Lodge No. 430, 950 Vine Street, Chattanooga, TN 37403, on October 15th.

The Lodge was then closed in Due Form.
